Wedding Bells

Frayne Duncan Marsh and Alice Hinemataura Solomon were married for time and all eternity in the Hamilton New Zealand Temple on Saturday March 5th, 2011, at 12:30pm.  It was beautiful. So peaceful and calm in the Temple. I loved being inside with my family - aunties, uncles, grandma, and new inlaws.  It was the first time I'd ever been to the Temple with my relations and it was amazing. I was so happy for Frayne, and the spirit touched all of us. I look forward to the time when my husband and son can be there too!

Outside, the rain was torrential.

It was such a contrast! The chaos of wind and rain compared with the warm, still atmosphere of the House of the Lord. I felt so sorry for the newlyweds. The weather didn't allow for many pictures, and put a damper on the celebration. The Bride had some drama with her bridesmaids, all the rushing and stress of the past week, and now rain. They couldn't catch a break! Although everything turned out ok, and there were some great moments, I wished it could have gone so much better.

I was thinking about how perfectly the sealing went and how everything else didn't go so well. I know that I tend to focus so much on the reception and making sure everything is planned and organized, that I forget about the actual wedding portion, the part that's most important! If the day had ended after the sealing it would have been enough. Of course, a reception is necessary for those family and friends who can't enter the Temple, and to enjoy delicious food and carry out various traditions. But all those things are secondary to the greatest blessing of all - being sealed to your spouse and family for time and all eternity.

That's the part I hope they remember and hold on to in the years to come. And I hope their love for each other and the Saviour continues to grow forever.
