Last week, while we were celebrating my birthday dinner with the family, I got a call from a friend to let us know a mutual friend had drowned while he was diving out at Waianae. It was shocking, he was so young and fit and active, it was completely unexpected. Needless to say his wife is devastated.
I have known his wife ever since I came to BYUH. Olga was my first trainer, when I started at PCC, as a tour guide. I remember when she got engaged to Heber, I was so happy for her, and she has this beautiful heart shaped diamond ring that I would insist she show my tour groups whenever we saw her.
They were extremely active in the church, community and school. Heber accomplished more in his short lifetime than most of us would ever dream of. They were a "spiritual giant" couple and were such perfect examples to me. I can only imagine the pain Olga is going through, and my heart goes out to her.
Anyway, I wanted to share this page, In memory of Heber with everyone. It has a few of his underwater photos for sale, and all proceeds go to his wife. He didn't do this type of thing to make money, he did it because he loved the ocean, but some of his friends had the bright idea to sell them and help the family. I think it's brilliant and I'm ordering a couple for myself. Even without buying them, it's still a nice token to his memory, and I'm sure his wife is touched that they thought of her.
Aloha 'oe Heber, till we meet again.
