Oh Happy Day!

Well I'm FINALLY getting around to actually posting something! Ok so the thought of the First Post is a little intimidating, kind of like making a new friend and wanting them to get a good first impression. I confess I used to be a blog hater (how could anyone possibly have time to maintain a blog, who's really interested in a person's life so much that they want to read about it every day, etc etc) but I have seen the light, and willingly admit my error. Even if no one else reads, it's a great way to record details about my life, one day at a time, with pictures and videos inserted!

Today was a great day. Not that anything hugely amazing happened - like NZ suddenly being 2000 miles closer, or Ka'ihi sleeping 8-10 hours during the night with zero interruptions - but it was just one of those days where the stars seemed to align and everything was smooth. Even though the baby woke at the ghastly hour of 6am (sparrow's fart as my aunty so poetically calls it) and I was dreading having a tired, crappy day, I was lovingly granted a reprieve from stress and feel quite content!

Kamuela was gone until 10am this morning on a trip to Maui. So pretty much I was left to do everything alone. Stumbling around after my hyperactive baby with my eyes barely open, I somehow managed to get us both fed and clothed, tamed my hair and slapped some makeup on so I looked decent enough. Also I played the organ again today, for only the second time in my life, so being understandably nervous I practiced the hymns too. Then he arrived home and helped finish getting the house tidied and off we went to church.

Playing the hymns was 1000% times better today than my first attempt. No wrong chords on the very first note of the very first introduction on the very first hymn. No hassles with the volume. Brilliant. The scariest part of the day was done.  Then I took Ka'ihi to Nursery for the first time, and he LOVED it! He loved interacting with the other kids, playing with new toys, singing and snacks. What a great thing Nursery is. I love it, and almost, ALMOST volunteered to be the leader. Then I pinched myself and came back down to earth.

I've noticed that when things are going well and I'm in a good mood, a swarm of people (familiar or not) will approach and want to talk. Which is fine, because as I mentioned, I'm in a good mood. So needless to say I had a ton of conversations with people today, and felt very much uplifted by them. Then a great visit with the family eating delicious food rounded off the perfect Sunday. I am thankful for this day and the charging of my spiritual, mental, (and all the other -al's) batteries. And now I officially have a blog! And if you made it to the end of this suuuuuper long post well congratulations, you are a camper! (just like me...)

  5. Oh goody...another blogger like me. Welcome, welcome. Ka'ihi is old enough for nursery? Did I miss something? I wish I could put my little ones in nursery. I only have to wait until April. Until then, church is attended mostly in the hallway.

  6. no he's not even a year old, but a lot of the younger babies in our ward go, the parents stay with them till they're 18 months, but it's so much better than trying to get him to be quiet through sunday school and relief society! I was spending so much time in the mother's room or walking around outside, till some of the other parents told me to bring him to nursery. It was awesome!
