So today was church and my parents meet at the awful hour of 9am (which unfortunately is going to be our new meeting time back in Hawaii next year) but it was really nice because my brother got a stake calling and my sister and her family made it to the setting apart after they'd flown in from Hawaii. The spirit was so strong in the room and we were all there, for the first time in YEARS, all the siblings, spouses, grandchildren and Alice, our soon-to-be sister in law. Oh and did I mention her father is the Bishop? New family!
After church Kamuela learnt how to clean and cook paua. He had mentioned before we came out to NZ that he wanted to try it (abalone) so I called my aunty Deidre whose husband and children go diving all the time, and she arranged to have some brought up.
[Insert: my aunty Deidre is one of my heroes and one of the best teachers I have ever met, both secular and spiritual. I admire her for so many reasons, but most of all for her love of the Saviour, the gospel and her family, her reliability, her attitude and her singing].
Now, she lives in Wellington, and that's about an 8 hour drive to where we were, but she made it happen and we are so grateful for her organization, generosity and willingness to help.
first you clean it
then you cut it
then you cook it
And then you eat it! But I was too busy eating to get a picture :(
Anyway, a lovely Sunday.

Looks SOOOO yummy! Are they as expensive in NZ as they are here?
