Resolutions

We're almost halfway through the year already! I can't believe it. On the other hand, so much has happened  in the past 6 months that January seems so long ago.

Time to assess my resolution-keeping! And I'm pretty glad to say I've been doing quite well. My family and I are consciously developing healthy habits - eating properly, sleeping better, exercising more - as well as trying to be mentally and spiritually healthier too. One area we still need to work on is going to the Temple regularly and being more involved in our ward, and holding FHE consistently. But we are taking things one step at a time, trying to make changes for good instead of short-term.

Also, I have gotten better at keeping in touch with people and making an effort to let people know they are important in my life. I haven't been so good at my 52 letters in 52 weeks (groan) but I know I've handwritten more letters this year than probably the past 5 years combined!

Kamuela has been great in encouraging me to pick up some hobbies too. I'm happy to say I'm back at tap again, and finding it challenging but also rewarding. I have so many different interests and want to study them all, but that is what life is for! I made a list of everything I want to accomplish (at this stage of my life).  A bucketlist for education I guess. These are some of the things I want to study more and possibly get certified in:

  1. TESOL
  2. Nursing/Midwife - they have a program at KCC, but this would have to wait till I save some money! Although there's an 8 week course at WCC to become a CN, which would be a great start.
  3. Hair/makeup
  4. Dance - this one I've started looking into at UH, I think I may apply for a master's program, when Ka'ihi is a little older
  5. Teaching tap to little kids
  6. Early childhood
  7. Subbing
  8. Photography - although there are so many photographers just in Laie alone! Still it's an interest and I want to learn more about it
  9. Web Design
  10. Astronomy/zoology
  11. Travel - mostly learning about other cultures - their food, customs, way-of-life, countries, history, native environments
Whew! I'm sure the list will get longer, but hopefully I'll be able to cross some off too. Apart from these, I'm also trying to find time to read, sew, draw/paint with Ka'ihi, refine my cooking/baking skills (aka learn new recipes other than the five I know now), and dust off my clarinet. Ka'ihi's already helping me with that one, he's learning to blow through the reed and mouthpiece.

Oh and I have some people who want me to teach piano.

Ok that sounds like a lot of stuff. But I'm not trying to rush and get it all done at once. We take it easy and do a little at a time!

Here's my very first attempt at making a web page for Hi'ikua. They already have an official one, but I kind of copied it and then altered it just to see if I could! It's kind of rough but I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed doing it and how it turned out. The one on the left is their original, designed by a professional, and the one on the right is mine, I just copied the pictures from their page and used what we had
